You’ll never know what you’d come up with, regardless if you try this trick randomly or carefully plan out your multiples! This technique gives you total control over your shots, allowing you to create a strangely endearing picture from layers of images!

Pleasant surprises, adrenaline rushes, and knock-your-socks-off kind of shocks – the feelings that you get with multiple exposures! Just in case you have not discovered this wonderful technique yet – multiple exposure is a method where you expose the film more than once. You’ll never know what you’d come up with, regardless if you try this trick randomly or carefully plan out your multiples! This technique gives you total control over your shots, allowing you to create a strangely endearing picture from layers of images!

Back to Basics – How does it work?

One way to double expose a shoot is to simply shoot a roll of film, rewind it nearly all the way (you need to leave a part of the film out) and then shoot on this film again! It’s as simple as that.

If, on the other hand, you would like to take more control over your shoots then you will need a camera with that can re-cock without advancing to the next frame. Here are some of the Lomographic favorites:

The Lubitel 166+

The Lomographic recreation of this soviet icon is the perfect camera to double expose with. It is the only camera in the world where you can rewind AND forward your film as you shoot! This means that you can shoot on one frame – go on and shoot some more frames and then find yourself in the situation where you have the perfect match to that previous frame long gone. All you have to do is to rewind! Now what could be better than that?

The LC-A+

The iconic compact camera that inspired millions around the world – and not without a reason! Its small size means that you can bring it along anywhere, it takes readily available 35mm film and its shutter can be recocked! For some vignetted masterminds distortions this camera is the thing for you.

Taking it to the extreme

The ever expanding Lomographic arsenal of cameras and lenses makes it possible to shoot with sprocket holes, fisheye angles, wide angles, sampler frames and mix of clear and dreamy sublime images. It’s great to be able to choose from one’s own collection, but why not combine them for some unfitting exposures? How about a Fisheye pick with the 8 frames of the Oktomat? Or maybe the and LC-A pick with 9 portraits lined up? How about a sprocket-holed Actionsampler mixture?

If you have never tried this wild combination before don’t worry! We are giving you plenty of time with this rumble going last for 21 days. Don’t hold up, get shooting may the craziest multi-exposure win!
