The $100-million theme park which spans the size of 18 football fields was one of the grandest attractions in Singapore in its heydays. It was modeled after the Tang Dynasty capital in Chang-An.

The theme park that recreates the seventh century Chinese village of Chang ’An, the present day Xian. One of the highlights of the theme park, the life size replica of the Great Wall of China that surrounds the whole city them park and not forgetting the life size replicas of the terracotta army of the tyrant emperor, Qin Shi Huang, that you will get to see in the theme park too!

It opened with great fanfare in 1992 but the combination of Asian financial crisis, high admission charges and lacklustre exhibits led to its closure in 1999.

The Tang Dynasty City today seems a pale shadow of its once-majestic self. The theme park’s 3-m-high wall was unscrubbed, and barricades put up across its gates to stop trespassers had fallen apart. Inside, broken glass and pieces of furniture littered the floor.

In May 2008, Demolish works began and by November 2008, The whole place is demolished and leveled.
