Tokyo is one of the largest and biggest metropolis in the world. And within the twenty-something districts there is the whole multitude of cultures and characters, which you can imagine. The most modern and young ward of Tokyo is Shibuya. Everyone above 25 years old is quite a vintage machine, but don’t hesitate to go there anyway. The place is crowded all day long and consists of giant department stores and specialists.

    Sant Miquel (Barcelona)

The beach of Sant Miquel just at the end of the area of Barceloneta (and often called Barceloneta Beach), is one of the famous beaches of Barcelona. Sure, many tourists are going to this beach in the summer, and in the middle of the afternoon it's really full and difficult to find a place... But if you go there early in the morning (8.00 am or after 7.00 pm) or in the late afternoon, you'll have the beach almost for you alone :).

One of the most amazing things about Istanbul is that it collects so many architectural styles and historic moments. Well, you can say this about Berlin, too, but in Istanbul you go way back. Before the Arabian influence took over it was a merely Christian area and during the Byzantium the architecture was very roman.

Nice (Charms of The Old City)

One of the main charms of Nice (besides the sea, of course) is the old city, "la vielle ville" or "vieux Nice" like the people here call it. It's a typical old Mediterranean city from the middle ages which has supported very few modifications since the 15th century (at least). As it is a main tourist attraction, there's a regular effort of the city to maintain in good state the architectural heritage of this old city and the whole area is really in a very good conservation state.

    Lago di Fiastra

I recently took my vacation in the Marche, which is a neat area in the middle of Italy. Very calm and decently close to the Adriatic Sea and the port of Ancona. It has all the treats of the Italian landscape, having mountains and seaside alike.

    Cathedral Notre Dame

The cathedral of "Notre Dame" of Paris, in the real historical center of the city (Island of the city, on the Seine) is a world-known monument and for sure one of the most visited places by the tourists in Paris. Always a very crowded place and typical "postcard" of your stay in Paris... But to say truly, the religious gothic style of this building is really worth the visit, it's a beautiful cathedral.

In fact we have the feeling that they are all coming from Königsberg;) But in the past, because after WWII this is Russian territory and the now called Kalininigrad was for a long time a closed area, which only was accessible for armed forces.

    Karaoke-Box in Roppongi

In my point of view Karaoke is such an important part of Japanese Popculture as Manga and Anime. Because the ambitious salary men of the island are working 24/7 they surely try to enjoy their free time at the max. Invented in the 70's the idea of making yourself a clown by singing your favourite songs in front of a large crowd. In Japan it is quite common to book entire karaoke boxes for some hours. Fixed by this idea we made this entertainment our program for new years eve. First we looked around Shinjuku, but nope. We found our spot in Roppongi, which is the new nightlife quarter of Tokyo. There are entire Karaoke-Buildings, that have boxes on several floors, which are decorated in movie- and music-themes. The rent of the box is paid per the amount of people singing. So this is reasonable, but cheap it isn’t. You also have to buy drinks, maybe you right away take the flatrate. In the box we needed 10 minutes to figure out the system to choose songs and we were anxious to get the action on like in “lost in translation”. Finally we figured out that there is a display which takes the orders and sends them to the prompter via Bluetooth. There is also a telephone-book-size instruction from which you can also choose songs.

But still there are some lomo-locations, that are truly mysterious and barely to be found otherwise. There is a spot in Armenia, which I passed by on a recent trip. It is situated around a city called Astarak, directly aside to the highway leading to the capital Yerevan.

The castle of Osaka is the major attraction of the town, and it surely is worth a visit. From the inside and the outside it represents the great history and future of this magic place called Japan. The Castle grounds covers 60.000 square meters, maybe the largest park in town. It dates back until 1583 when the famous Conqueror Toyotomi Hideyoshi started building it, but was many times looted and rebuilt.

Iceland surely is a strange place. One of the most astonishing sites is the blue lagoon. Well. It's a hot thermal source. But it's more than that. It lay in the middle of a field of volcanic stones, a rough moon-like field. The Bath is close to the seaside, that's why there are Sea-Minerals in the water and on you. It's a habit to put a white mineral-paste on you skin.

Hence Japan was bombed by A-bombs the whole multitude of nuclear pollution was a very relevant dramatic element. The character was created in 1950s and was instantly a major success in the Japanese Cinema. This is grand B-Movie-History. Up to date there have been 28 movies made and the next big thing lingers around the corner. Rumors say, that there will be another epic Japanese G-Film soon.

Well, and the 10 million dollar oil-money, that was needed to pay the song, written by Timbaland was helpful as well. Cultural Center Georges Pompidou – Beaubourg

The main modern art collection in Paris is to be seen in the Center Georges Pompidou - Beaubourg: it's the second most important collection of the world after the famous MOMA in New York. But "Beaubourg" as the Parisians like to call it is also an important cultural center with a huge library, many cultural events (concerts, thematic movie retrospectives and other cultural representations) and is also a fascinating building of a very "futuristic style" of the 70's.

The building of the Pantheon in Paris is located in the center of the city, in the 5th "arrondissement" and is a very impressive classical building. Built as a church at the end of the 18th century in a Gothic style with antique Greek influences it was transformed after the French revolution in a memorial place of the greatest men of the French history in all kind of achievement (art, culture, literature, politics) and where these are buried.
